In the last months VitalTissue worked hard to set up the infrastructure for use of vital human residual tissue in scientific research as a new division of ETB-BISLIFE. ETB-BISLIFE received a ZonMw-grant for this purpose. On November 4th, 2024 VitalTissue reached an important milestone by signing a cooperation agreement with the first collaborating hospital, Isala.
VitalTissue and Isala’s Department of Surgery are working closely together to ensure that the first deliveries of vital human residual tissues for scientific research to research institutions will take place early 2025.
With this agreement, VitalTissue guarantees that human residual tissues, which until recently were destroyed after a medical procedure, are obtained and delivered in a reliable and transparent manner.
In this way, both Isala and VitalTissue contribute to a continuous and diverse supply of high-quality human vital residual tissue for scientific research. This research enables scientists to develop experimental models that better reflect human biology, which contributes to the faster development of better medicines and a reduction in the number of animal experiments.
